ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to find out whether there are differences for special children`s stress behaviors by applying music therapy for maintaining efficient study environment and perfect group life. In addition, there are meanings that offer the data to guide special children to healthy life by seeking the method to be rather active. The target of the experiment which randomly sampled out from a special school(city M, Jeonnam) were 6 special children. The CCSBI(Classroom Child Stress Behavior Instrument), which developed by Burts et al.(1990a) and modified for korean children by Lee Yoonkyung(1994), was used for the tool to observe a stress behaviors of a special child. The pre-examination to measure a stress of the children was conducted 15 times for 3 weeks (June. 24th 2002 ~July. 10th 2002). Music therapy which is the experiment of this study, was conducted 30 times(Sep. 3rd 2002~Nov. 7th 2002). After the experiment of the music therapy, the post-examination to measure a stress of the children was conducted 15 times for 3 weeks (Nov. 8th 2002 ~Nov. 25th 2002). Data collected by the pre and post examination were statistically processed. As a result, in special children`s stress behaviors, there are significant differences between before and after the music activities(p<0.05). The stress behaviors in the post-test were lower than those in the pre-test, so it implies that stress behaviors got low through the music activities.
