ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the perceived factors that influenced choice of various piano method books used in current piano teaching settings and the satisfactory levels for each of the selected piano method book chosen by the one hundred and fifty four teachers who have participated in this research survey. The participants indicated that the Piano Adventures, Alfred, and Bastien were favored in respective orders. According to the study, crucial factors in selecting the piano method book were structure and formal layout of the materials and the relevance and level of the informations covered in the piano method books. Furthermore, Bastien, ranked the highest in the satisfactory level among the piano method books widely used in current piano teaching settings followed by Klavier, Alfred. Also, this study pointed out that the most widely distributed and used piano method book is not necessarily proportional to the actual satisfactory level of the piano method books. Certain deviations were evident in the most commonly used piano method books and the figurative satisfactory level of the piano method books.
