A Study on the Space Plan of Music Classrooms

ABSTRACT

Recently, the school facilities are getting changed and designed for effective education. To follow these current educational trends, music educators are required to know what kind of music facilities are needed to their music class, how well each space in the music suite is used, and how properly total spaces are related to one another. According to these needs, this study focuses on the fundamental requirements for planing school music suites, The music suites include vocal rooms, instrument rooms, music libraries, listening rooms, practice rooms, teachers` offices, repair rooms and storage rooms, The educational efficiency of those facilities would be improved if you group related spaces by function, The music suite layout is a complex environment with many different areas, The ideal music suite layout should be considered in the view of access to related areas, noise reduction, traffic flow, teacher monitoring, flexibility for multiple activities and future needs, floor spaces. By applying these points, this study suggests 4 layouts of music facilities plans that are provided from several literatures and materials.
