The Research on The Connection between Elementary and Middle School Music Curricula Based on Tyler`s Theory of Education

ABSTRACT

The connections within the curriculum are one of the important factors that determine the quality of the curriculum and it should be generally accepted and applied as a vertical concept between the grades or the schools, and as a horizontal concept in or between the courses. In the case of the music course, the researches and developments of the programs as the horizontal system have been relatively fully conducted but the researches as the vertical system on the integrated education have been insufficiently dealt with, although there are needs from educational fields. Therefore this study is to found the concept of the connection of music course between schools based on the basic principles of curriculum by Tyler, provide the foundation for the development of music connection programs by searching the connection between elementary and middle school music curricula, and suggest the direction forward for music education.
