A Study on Elementary Specialized Music Teacher`s Perception about Teaching of Singing

ABSTRACT

This study investigated with a questionnaire the recognition of their teaching strategies of singing of 67 specialized music teachers who work in elementary schools in Gangwon-Do. The recognition involves in their teaching of singing. The questionnaire asked their experiences for the teaching of singing, their participations in study and training-programs, their self-consciousness of teaching, their teaching-methods, and their actual organizations and operations of the present curriculum. The result can be summed up as follow: They aimed with the teaching of singing to an aesthetic inspiration of children with various songs, preferred to teach created children songs, and their accompaniments are conducted mainly with internet-site, by which children sing along the listened from sound source. They think that the accuracy of the rhythm and interval is very important as the content and evaluation of the teaching of singing, which may be operated not in curriculum but in activities of the youth circles. The majority of teachers in this poll hope for participation in several training-programs for the better teaching, and they feel lack of multifarious study and training-programs and essential developing of the present curriculum.
