Analysis of Research Trends in Early Childhood Music Education Reported from 1988 through 2016 in the Journal of Korean Music Education Research Published by Korean Music Education Society

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to analyze some articles on early childhood music education reported in the Journal of Music Education Research published by Korean Music Education Society(KMES) from 1988 through 2016 in order to examine research trends and to find out developmental vision for this academic area. Content analysis was conducted according to number of published articles, research subjects, number of researcher, representative both general and annual research themes, and research method. As a result, it was found that 65 articles were published during the past three decades, five year and mixed aged children were preferred to parents as for subject group, researches done by over two people as well as qualitative research were increased, teaching and learning methods was the prevailing the me, and finally practical studies were more than theory oriented studies.
