A Study on the Research Trend of Music Educational Psychology

ABSTRACT

The goal of this study is to investigate research papers related to music educational psychology published in Korean music education related journals, and to help activate a deeper and systematic research related to music educational psychology. This study has surveyed 1,117 papers published in the five journals from 2010 to 2016 that are registered in the Korea Research Foundation, 138 papers about music educational psychology are analyzed. The results of the study are as follows: First, the papers related to music psychology are increasing, but still 12.4% of all the papers. Second, in terms of research methods, experimental studies are 22.9%, survey studies are the most frequent, 61.6%. Third, the papers are mostly about students including infants and children, reaching 43.5%. Fourth, in terms of research instruments, over 40% of studies are using questionnaire.
