A Study of Motivation of Major Selection, Major Satisfaction, and Career Maturity According to Major of Music College Student

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference on motivation of major selection, major satisfaction, and career maturity according to the major of music college student. Universities in Seoul Metropolitan Area, and Daejeon City were selected as unit of analysis from population of music majors using convenience sampling, and then a total of 260 respondents’questionnaires were collected. Frequency analysis, validity and reliability analysis, one way ANOVA, and Duncan post hoc test were conducted. The findings showed as follows. First, whether there was any difference on motivation of major selection according to major of music college student was analyzed, and differences among majors on both the Circumstance factor and individual factor were only statistically significant. Second, whether there was any difference on major satisfaction according to major of music college student was analyzed, and differences among majors on recognition satisfaction factor, relationship satisfaction factor were only statistically significant. Third, although whether there was difference on career maturity according to major of music college student was analyzed, differences on all factors among majors were statistically non-significant.
